Fragrant Freebie Giveaway and an award...

Maybe you need cheering up?  Maybe you have never won anything in a raffle?  Then you might just love what The Happy Larder has in store for you:  the Fragrant Freebie Giveaway!  On Friday, 1st March I will be starting what will hopefully be a regular feature on this blog: a giveaway of goodies.  I don't want to let slip too many details now, so please mark the date in your diaries, visit the Happy Larder and be ready to win!

The other thing I wanted to mention is that the lovely Jan at Softiesplace has nominated The Happy Larder for an award :-)  Thank you Jan!  Softiesplace is a lovely blog that is beautifully written from the heart - I hope you will go and check it out.

leibster“The Liebster Award is for bloggers with under 300 followers and the rules of the award is that the nominee must link back to whoever awarded them, write 11 random facts about themselves, answer the 11 questions from the award giver, and then nominate another 11 bloggers and make up 11 questions for them to answer. It’s a great way for new and undiscovered bloggers to meet new people, get more followers and find some blogs that they want to follow.”

So, here are the 11 random facts about me:

We chose it together but my engagement ring was a surprise and it was perfect.
7. Saver or spender?
Oh, difficult one...I'd say saver as I hate shopping.
8. What is your favorite film or movie?
Oh, another difficult one...I love "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe" but it depends on my mood really (I could watch "Hitch" any day).
9. Vintage or Modern?
Vintage (see random fact #11)
10. Do you have a favorite quote?
Not as such but I love the poem "Lost" by David Wagoner
11. What made you laugh or smile the most this week?
Keith the dog - he always does the funniest things and puts a smile on my face every day of the week.

I would like to nominate the following blogs - some I have been reading for a while, some I am new to but enjoy what I have read so far...:

Apologies if you have already received a nomination for this from another blogger or if you have more than the 300 followers - if you have time, it would be lovely if you took part (but no one will be offended if you can't or don't want to).  So, here are my questions for the nominees:

  1. Why do you blog?
  2. What makes you happy?
  3. Marmite - love it or hate it (or don't know it)?
  4. What was your first pet?
  5. Starter or dessert?
  6. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
  7. Red wine or white wine?
  8. Running or cycling?
  9. Are you left-handed or right-handed?
  10. Would you describe yourself as an optimist or pessimist (and why)?
  11. What is your favourite fruit?

  4. Hi Kirsten,

I loved your answers! I agree mango is so yummy! I was impressed that you have completed two marathons. Wow, that is a lot of work! An au pair sounds like it would be a fun job. I like both the movies you mentioned. Funny, that you mentioned Hitch. I can not explain why but I always enjoy Kevin James. Even in his silly movies. He always makes me laugh. I bet your house is beautiful. You are so right that mid century design is all the rage and very pretty. Coincidentally, my youngest daughter, the maker of the rainbow cakes, also has one kidney. In her case it was a congenital condition. The other kidney never fully formed cause it was multicystic. For the most part it rarely disrupts her life. I hope it remains that way. I am excited to have a look at the other blogs you recommended. Have a great day!

    1. Hi Jan! Thank you again for including me in this - I really enjoyed answering the questions and finding questions for the other bloggers.
What a coincidence that your daughter has only one kidney too! One of mine was not working properly from birth but they only found out when I was about 10 years old and took it out. So for the past 32 years I've been living with only the one and so far, so good :-)
Have a lovely day too! Kirsten x
